DHAM TRADITIONAL FOOD OF HIMACHAL
In the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, dham is a traditional vegetarian festive dish. An important occasion, festival, wedding, or other religious event calls for the preparation of this midday meal. In Himachali cuisine, traditional Dham is often served to guests on the ground in pattals (plates made of leaves) on all such occasions. Due to the heavy usage of yogurt and spices like coriander, cardamom, turmeric, and chili powder, Himachali cuisine has a distinct scent and flavor. Typically, the food is prepared with low heat with mustard oil. The traditional dham does not include a vegetable dish, and most of the dishes are meat-based due to the difficulty in obtaining vegetables in the hilly and chilly location.
